Are You Suffering from a Balance Disorder?
At Quincy Audiology, we understand the fear and frustration vestibular and balance symptoms can cause. We focus on delivering clear, straightforward balance testing to identify the cause and guide you toward effective solutions.
Balance disorders fall into two main categories. If any of these symptoms sound familiar, Quincy Audiology can help.
-
Dizziness, Vertigo, or Motion Intolerance
This condition may be caused or worsened by rapid head movement, turning too quickly, walking, or riding in a car. These symptoms can be acute or sharp attacks lasting for seconds or sometimes for several hours.
Balance issues can be a safety concern. Protect your health by scheduling a balance test.
Take Back Control of Your Vestibular Health
The medical term for the part of the inner ear involved with balance is called the vestibular system. The vestibular system is an organ located within the inner ear which relays information to the brain about balance and orientation of the head and body. Balance is a complex interaction which requires input from our vestibular system, in addition to our vision and the sensation from our feet, muscles, and joints. If any one of these systems are not working properly, you will suffer loss of balance.
Quincy Audiology works to understand the cause of your balance issues first, so we can create a plan to treat the root problem, not just the symptoms.

Patient Self Quiz
The questions below have been adapted from a self-assessment tool created by the American Institute of Balance. Please take the time to think about each question to help determine whether you need a professional evaluation for vestibular and equilibrium issues.
-
Do you experience sensations of spinning, falling, or other motion when shifting your head quickly or changing your body position? (e.g. standing from a seated position or bending over)
-
Do you find it difficult to walk around or navigate in dark or low-light conditions?
-
Is it challenging or distressing for you to walk down grocery store aisles?
-
Do you struggle to make your feet move the way you want them to?
-
Do you feel unstable on your feet, as if you cannot trust them to keep you balanced?
If you answered YES to one or more of these questions, consider a vestibular and equilibrium evaluation.
